Life Skills Program
Healthplus provides day treatment services through The Washington Youth Center’s Life Skills Program, a traditional child and adolescent day treatment focused on skill development through established and proven methods in a safe, therapeutic environment.
+Life Skills are social skills - communication and expression without anger, threats, outbursts or tantrums. Cooperation, building relationships, empathy and negotiation are social skills.
+Life Skills are coping skills - dealing with abuse, neglect, loss, frustration and disappointment without anger, substance abuse, self-injury or acting out.
+Life Skills are cognitive skills - decision making, problem solving, resolving conflicts without aggression, tantrums and outbursts.
+Life Skills are day-to-day skills - topics include personal hygiene, substance abuse and peer pressure.
